Ozone
saves money:
A chemical reduction of up to 95%
Prolongs the life of the equipment by reducing calcium and scale buildup
Greatly reduces pool and spa maintenance and operating costs
No handling or storing toxic chemicals
No plaster degradation
Reduces TDS by coagulating particles
Ozone will not alter pH
Ozone
is healthier than chemical purification:
Ozone is natural with end product being pure oxygen
No chemical buildup or chlormine formation
Leaves no undesirable odor
No bleaching of the hair, dried out skin, burning eyes, faded swimming apparel and no irritation to the eyes, nasal passages and throat
Neutral pH
Ozone has been used to purify drinking water for nearly a Century
Ozone, first discovered in 1840, is produced in nature or artificially by man. In the earth's atmosphere, ozone is formed when oxygen is exposed to ultraviolet light or an electrical charge as during thunderstorms. Ozone's primary function in nature is to purify the air we breathe and screen us from the harmful rays of the sun.
Ozone is manufactured in the generator by in-taking air, which is composed of 20% oxygen (O2) and bombarding it with a specific light frequency. This frequency causes the oxygen molecules to disassociate and reassemble as ozone (O3). Ozone is the most powerful oxidizing agent commercially available. This ozone is drawn into the spa water, killing any bacteria, viruses or mold spores that comes into contact with the ozone. The ozone rapidly reverts back to pure oxygen with a half-life of approximately 20 minutes. Due to the rapid conversion of ozone into its original state of pure oxygen, a small amount of conventional oxidant is recommended, but not required to assure a perfectly clean and bacteria fee spa.
If the spa is run daily, as is recommended by most spa manufacturers, two, three hour intervals in a twenty four hour period, should be sufficient ozone generated to keep the spa free of biological contamination.
